Affinity Metalworks

Metals are not static compounds. They are ever-changing. Over time, when exposed to air, water, heat, other metals, pressure or chemicals, metals can be transformed into a myriad of hues and textures. With hard work and a little imagination, these compounds can be made into useful works of art. Affinity Metalworks uses a variety of metals including stainless steel, hot and cold rolled steel, copper, brass, cast iron and aluminum. The metals are then cut, cleaned, smoothed, shaped and polished. Items are finished using various techniques such as heat, patina, paint or abrasives. Some pieces are left in their natural state and others are purposely rusted. The pieces are joined with the use of bonding agents and welding. Ceramic pieces are finished and attached in some cases and found art is also utilized. Lacquers are used to preserve some of the surfaces. Given that metals can change with exposure to natural elements, some pieces may change over time, particularly enjoyed out of doors. Affinity Metalworks was founded by Tina Strarup and Julie Lee. They are educated, creative women who shared a curiosity about working with metal. This endeavor resulted in a growing fascination with metal compounds and an insatiable drive to create unique metal sculptures. As experienced business owners, establishing a mode to share their passion for art was a perfect fit for their entrepreneurial spirit. The excitement people express about their art serves to fuel their enthusiasm. As Affinity Metalworks continues to grow and mature, we too are evolving. There is an unseen force that pushes us along to keep creating. It's really about the mystery of what the next piece will look like.

Barton Springs Nursery

Since 1986, Barton Springs Nursery has been dedicated to serving the needs of gardeners in the Central Texas region by offering one of the best selections of native and well-adapted plants for this area. We strive to be more than a commercial endeavor, but rather a place of information, guidance, enjoyment, and progressive horticulture for the community. Take a walk around the grounds, and you'll see why Barton Springs Nursery is different. Our four acre spread is a former ranch and stable. The original rock walls remain, and our cedar fences are rustic reproductions of a Texas fence style used in the early 1900s. Our shady grove of live oak trees provide a natural spot for our shade-loving plants, as well as a quiet place to rest a spell. Bring your children and they will find endless amusement with our parakeet atrium, toy-filled sandbox, and flourishing ponds, complete with fish and turtles. The majority of our plants are grown right here at the nursery, where they become acclimated to our soil, water, and climate. When you buy a plant here, it already knows this is home, and it's more likely to make an easy transition to your own landscape. We support environmentally friendly pest management, the use of organic techniques, and water conservation. We propagate and cultivate unusual plants so that they too can take root in our Central Texas soil. If you're looking for something different to jazz up your garden, you've come to the right place. Wander through our exceptional array of plants that can transform your outdoor space. We carry plant material in a variety of sizes, from 4 inch to 45 gallon and everything in between. Perennials, annuals, edibles, ornamental grasses, ground covers, roses, palms, bamboo, bog plants, trees, vines, and succulents, including a stellar selection of drought-tolerant and native species.
